# BrewMark — Grind Setting Reference Generated from the live database. Everything below is computed from each grinder's own measured curve, not copied from a generic chart. ## How the numbers are derived Every grinder is mapped onto a shared 0-100 grind index using five measured reference points: espresso (0), moka (15), filter (40), French press (70), coarse (100). Settings between those points are interpolated — with a Fritsch-Carlson monotone cubic spline for conical burrs, whose dials are not linear, and linearly for flat burrs. The spline is monotone by construction, so a coarser index always yields a coarser setting. Where the index sits for each brew method: 5 — Espresso 15 — Moka pot 25 — AeroPress (short steep) 38 — Pour over — V60 / cone 45 — Pour over — flat bottom 50 — Drip / batch brew 58 — Chemex 72 — French press 88 — Cold brew A grind index converts between any two grinders: read the index off one grinder's curve, then read the setting off the other's. ## Brew methods (8) ### Pour Over Page: https://brewmark.io/methods/pour-over Grind: Medium-fine (grind index 38 of 100) Ratio: 1:16.7 | Water: 205F | Time: 3 min Summary: Water poured by hand over a cone of coffee, drawn through paper by gravity. The method that rewards attention and punishes inconsistency. If sour or thin: Grind finer, or pour more slowly so the water spends longer in the bed. If bitter or harsh: Grind coarser, or lower the water temperature by a few degrees. Common mistake: Pouring too aggressively in the middle of the brew, which digs a channel through the bed and lets water escape without extracting evenly. Pour gently, in circles, and keep the bed flat. ### French Press Page: https://brewmark.io/methods/french-press Grind: Coarse (grind index 72 of 100) Ratio: 1:15 | Water: 200F | Time: 4 min Summary: Full immersion with a metal mesh filter. Heavier, rounder and more forgiving than pour over, at the cost of some clarity. If sour or thin: Grind finer or steep a minute longer. If bitter or harsh: Grind coarser, and decant immediately after plunging rather than leaving it in the press. Common mistake: Grinding too fine. Fines slip through the mesh and keep extracting in the cup, which is the usual cause of a muddy, over-extracted French press — not the steep time. ### AeroPress Page: https://brewmark.io/methods/aeropress Grind: Fine to medium-fine (grind index 25 of 100) Ratio: 1:14 | Water: 185F | Time: 1:30 Summary: Immersion plus gentle pressure through a paper filter. The most forgiving brewer there is, and the one with the widest usable grind range. If sour or thin: Grind finer, steep longer, or raise the water temperature. If bitter or harsh: Grind coarser, shorten the steep, or drop the temperature toward 175°F. Common mistake: Treating the plunge as the extraction. It is not — the steep does the work. Press slowly and steadily; forcing it changes very little except how much sediment you get. ### Espresso Page: https://brewmark.io/methods/espresso Grind: Very fine (grind index 5 of 100) Ratio: 1:2 | Water: 200F | Time: 0:28 Summary: Roughly nine bars of pressure through a compacted puck of very finely ground coffee. The least forgiving method and the one where grinder quality matters most. If sour or thin: Grind finer so the shot runs slower, or raise the brew temperature. If bitter or harsh: Grind coarser, shorten the shot, or reduce the dose slightly. Common mistake: Adjusting grind and dose together, then not knowing which one changed the shot. Change one, pull, taste, repeat. ### Cold Brew Page: https://brewmark.io/methods/cold-brew Grind: Very coarse (grind index 88 of 100) Ratio: 1:8 | Water: 68F | Time: 12 hours Summary: A long steep at room temperature or in the fridge. Low acidity, heavy sweetness, and almost impossible to get badly wrong. If sour or thin: Steep longer, or grind slightly finer. If bitter or harsh: Steep less, grind coarser, or dilute more. Common mistake: Grinding at filter size because the bag suggested it. Cold brew wants the coarsest setting your grinder has; the long steep does the work that a finer grind would do in a hot brew. ### Drip Page: https://brewmark.io/methods/drip Grind: Medium (grind index 50 of 100) Ratio: 1:16 | Water: 200F | Time: 5 min Summary: An automatic brewer doing the pouring for you. Consistent by design, and limited by whatever the machine decides about temperature and flow. If sour or thin: Grind finer, or use slightly more coffee. If bitter or harsh: Grind coarser, and check whether the machine is running hot or brewing too slowly. Common mistake: Filling the basket by scoop rather than weight. Automatic brewers amplify dose errors because you cannot compensate mid-brew the way you can by hand. ### Batch Brew Page: https://brewmark.io/methods/batch-brew Grind: Medium (grind index 52 of 100) Ratio: 1:16.5 | Water: 200F | Time: 6 min Summary: Drip brewing at volume — a litre or more at once. The method cafés use for filter coffee, and the one most sensitive to bed depth. If sour or thin: Grind finer, or increase the dose slightly. If bitter or harsh: Grind coarser, and check the bed is being wetted evenly across its whole surface. Common mistake: Scaling a single-cup recipe linearly and keeping the same grind. Bigger batches need a coarser grind, not just proportionally more coffee. ### Immersion Page: https://brewmark.io/methods/immersion Grind: Medium-coarse (grind index 60 of 100) Ratio: 1:15.5 | Water: 205F | Time: 4 min Summary: Steep-and-release brewers — Clever Dripper, Hario Switch and similar. Immersion consistency with a paper filter for clarity. If sour or thin: Grind finer or steep longer. If bitter or harsh: Grind coarser or cut the steep by thirty seconds. Common mistake: Opening the valve early because the timer says so, while the bed has not finished drawing down. Let it drain fully — the last of the drawdown is part of the brew. ## Grinder dial-in charts (78) ### 1Zpresso J-Max Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/1zpresso-j-max Dial: 0 clicks to 200 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 60 clicks espresso to filter, 70 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 17 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 26 clicks) Moka pot: 30 clicks (workable 26 clicks – 38 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 46 clicks (workable 38 clicks – 58 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 67 clicks (workable 60 clicks – 76 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 76 clicks (workable 70 clicks – 84 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 82 clicks (workable 76 clicks – 90 clicks) Chemex: 90 clicks (workable 84 clicks – 98 clicks) French press: 104 clicks (workable 97 clicks – 114 clicks) Cold brew: 125 clicks (workable 114 clicks – 140 clicks) Notes: The J-Max trades coarse range for espresso resolution, and the click density near the fine end is the whole point of the grinder. If you are using it for pour over you are working in the middle of its range and will find it forgiving; if you are pulling shots, expect meaningful taste changes from two or three clicks. It will reach French press, but it is not what you bought it for. ### 1Zpresso J-Ultra Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/1zpresso-j-ultra Dial: 0 clicks to 200 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 60 clicks espresso to filter, 70 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 17 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 26 clicks) Moka pot: 30 clicks (workable 26 clicks – 38 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 46 clicks (workable 38 clicks – 58 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 67 clicks (workable 60 clicks – 76 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 76 clicks (workable 70 clicks – 84 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 82 clicks (workable 76 clicks – 90 clicks) Chemex: 90 clicks (workable 84 clicks – 98 clicks) French press: 104 clicks (workable 97 clicks – 114 clicks) Cold brew: 125 clicks (workable 114 clicks – 140 clicks) Notes: The J-Ultra widens the useful band relative to the J-Max, trading a little espresso resolution for genuinely usable filter and French press. If you want one hand grinder for everything, this is the one in the range that tries hardest. ### 1Zpresso JX-Pro Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/1zpresso-jx-pro Dial: 0 clicks to 200 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 63 clicks espresso to filter, 75 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 19 clicks (workable 12 clicks – 29 clicks) Moka pot: 34 clicks (workable 29 clicks – 42 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 51 clicks (workable 42 clicks – 63 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 72 clicks (workable 64 clicks – 82 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 82 clicks (workable 75 clicks – 90 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 88 clicks (workable 82 clicks – 96 clicks) Chemex: 96 clicks (workable 90 clicks – 105 clicks) French press: 113 clicks (workable 104 clicks – 123 clicks) Cold brew: 134 clicks (workable 123 clicks – 150 clicks) Notes: External adjustment makes this the easiest hand grinder to actually dial, because you can count clicks without disassembling anything. Its filter range is generous, which is a mixed blessing — small click changes do less than you expect at the coarse end and more than you expect near espresso. Move in larger jumps for French press, single clicks for anything under filter. ### 1Zpresso K-Max Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/1zpresso-k-max Dial: 0 clicks to 90 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 25 clicks espresso to filter, 20 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 43 clicks (workable 40 clicks – 47 clicks) Moka pot: 49 clicks (workable 47 clicks – 52 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 56 clicks (workable 52 clicks – 60 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 64 clicks (workable 61 clicks – 67 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 67 clicks (workable 65 clicks – 70 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 69 clicks (workable 67 clicks – 71 clicks) Chemex: 71 clicks (workable 70 clicks – 74 clicks) French press: 76 clicks (workable 73 clicks – 78 clicks) Cold brew: 81 clicks (workable 78 clicks – 85 clicks) Notes: A larger burr set than the J series and correspondingly faster, aimed squarely at espresso with enough range to reach filter. Its click resolution near the fine end is the reason to own it. ### 1Zpresso K-Plus Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/1zpresso-k-plus Dial: 0 clicks to 90 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 25 clicks espresso to filter, 20 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 43 clicks (workable 40 clicks – 47 clicks) Moka pot: 49 clicks (workable 47 clicks – 52 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 56 clicks (workable 52 clicks – 60 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 64 clicks (workable 61 clicks – 67 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 67 clicks (workable 65 clicks – 70 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 69 clicks (workable 67 clicks – 71 clicks) Chemex: 71 clicks (workable 70 clicks – 74 clicks) French press: 76 clicks (workable 73 clicks – 78 clicks) Cold brew: 81 clicks (workable 78 clicks – 85 clicks) Notes: Same family as the K-Max with a longer body and more capacity. Dialling behaviour is close enough that K-Max notes transfer; the difference you feel is grind speed, not grind character. ### 1Zpresso Q2 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/1zpresso-q2 Dial: 0 clicks to 100 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 32 clicks espresso to filter, 40 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 12 clicks (workable 8 clicks – 17 clicks) Moka pot: 19 clicks (workable 17 clicks – 23 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 28 clicks (workable 23 clicks – 34 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 39 clicks (workable 34 clicks – 44 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 44 clicks (workable 40 clicks – 48 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 47 clicks (workable 44 clicks – 52 clicks) Chemex: 52 clicks (workable 48 clicks – 56 clicks) French press: 60 clicks (workable 56 clicks – 66 clicks) Cold brew: 72 clicks (workable 66 clicks – 80 clicks) Notes: Compact and travel-oriented, with a shorter usable range than the larger 1Zpresso grinders. Excellent for filter on the road; the coarse end runs out before French press territory is really comfortable. ### 1Zpresso X-Ultra Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/1zpresso-x-ultra Dial: 0 clicks to 120 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 42 clicks espresso to filter, 50 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 13 clicks (workable 8 clicks – 20 clicks) Moka pot: 23 clicks (workable 20 clicks – 28 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 34 clicks (workable 28 clicks – 42 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 48 clicks (workable 43 clicks – 55 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 55 clicks (workable 50 clicks – 60 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 59 clicks (workable 55 clicks – 65 clicks) Chemex: 65 clicks (workable 60 clicks – 71 clicks) French press: 76 clicks (workable 70 clicks – 83 clicks) Cold brew: 90 clicks (workable 83 clicks – 100 clicks) Notes: The X series is 1Zpresso's more affordable line, and the X-Ultra is the filter-oriented member of it. Comfortable across pour over and immersion; the espresso end exists but lacks the click density of the J and K series. ### 1Zpresso ZP6 Special Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/1zpresso-zp6-special Dial: 0 clicks to 120 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 44 clicks espresso to filter, 50 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 11 clicks (workable 6 clicks – 18 clicks) Moka pot: 21 clicks (workable 18 clicks – 27 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 33 clicks (workable 27 clicks – 41 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 48 clicks (workable 42 clicks – 55 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 55 clicks (workable 50 clicks – 60 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 59 clicks (workable 55 clicks – 65 clicks) Chemex: 65 clicks (workable 60 clicks – 71 clicks) French press: 76 clicks (workable 70 clicks – 83 clicks) Cold brew: 90 clicks (workable 83 clicks – 100 clicks) Notes: Purpose-built for filter, with burrs cut to reduce fines rather than to cover espresso. It will not pull a shot and does not pretend to — inside its range it is one of the most uniform hand grinders available. ### Baratza Encore Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/baratza-encore Dial: 1 to 40 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 15 numbers espresso to filter, 15 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 6.6 (workable 5 – 8.9) Moka pot: 10 (workable 8.9 – 12) AeroPress (short steep): 14.1 (workable 12 – 17.1) Pour over — V60 / cone: 19.3 (workable 17.5 – 21.4) Pour over — flat bottom: 21.4 (workable 20 – 23.1) Drip / batch brew: 22.7 (workable 21.4 – 24.4) Chemex: 24.4 (workable 23.1 – 26.1) French press: 27.5 (workable 25.8 – 29.6) Cold brew: 31.8 (workable 29.6 – 35) Notes: The Encore is the default first grinder for filter coffee, and its scale is the one most recipes are implicitly written against. Its stepped collar is honest about what it is: excellent from medium-fine upward, progressively less consistent as you go finer. Treat the bottom of the range as a moka-pot floor rather than an espresso range — Baratza built the Encore ESP precisely because this one was never meant to reach it. If your cup tastes thin at the recommended setting, go one step finer rather than two; the steps here are wider than they look. ### Baratza Encore ESP Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/baratza-encore-esp Dial: 1 to 40 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 15 numbers espresso to filter, 15 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 4.6 (workable 3 – 6.9) Moka pot: 8 (workable 6.9 – 10) AeroPress (short steep): 12.1 (workable 10 – 15.1) Pour over — V60 / cone: 17.3 (workable 15.5 – 19.4) Pour over — flat bottom: 19.4 (workable 18 – 21.1) Drip / batch brew: 20.7 (workable 19.4 – 22.4) Chemex: 22.4 (workable 21.1 – 24.1) French press: 25.5 (workable 23.8 – 27.6) Cold brew: 29.8 (workable 27.6 – 33) Notes: The Encore ESP is the Encore with the espresso range Baratza left out of the original — a recalibrated burr set and a collar remapped so the fine end has usable resolution instead of bottoming out. If you are cross-referencing recipes written for a standard Encore, the numbers do not transfer directly; the same figure sits finer here. ### Baratza Forté BG Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/baratza-forte-bg Dial: 1 to 260 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 80 numbers espresso to filter, 120 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 30 (workable 20 – 44) Moka pot: 50 (workable 44 – 60) AeroPress (short steep): 70 (workable 60 – 84) Pour over — V60 / cone: 96 (workable 86 – 110) Pour over — flat bottom: 110 (workable 100 – 124) Drip / batch brew: 120 (workable 110 – 136) Chemex: 136 (workable 124 – 152) French press: 164 (workable 150 – 180) Cold brew: 196 (workable 180 – 220) Notes: A commercial-grade burr set in a domestic body, geared toward brew rather than espresso as the BG designation implies. Very consistent across the filter range; the fine end is present but not where this grinder earns its keep. ### Baratza Sette 270 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/baratza-sette-270 Dial: 1 to 31 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 10 numbers espresso to filter, 13 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 6 (workable 5 – 7.3) Moka pot: 8 (workable 7.3 – 9.3) AeroPress (short steep): 10.8 (workable 9.3 – 12.8) Pour over — V60 / cone: 14.5 (workable 13.1 – 16.1) Pour over — flat bottom: 16.1 (workable 15 – 17.5) Drip / batch brew: 17.1 (workable 16.1 – 18.6) Chemex: 18.6 (workable 17.5 – 20.2) French press: 21.4 (workable 20 – 23.3) Cold brew: 25.2 (workable 23.3 – 28) Notes: Straight-through grinding means almost no retention, which makes the Sette unusually good for single dosing and switching between coffees. The macro/micro adjustment gives real espresso resolution, and the trade-off is noise — this is the loudest grinder most people will own. ### Baratza Sette 270Wi Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/baratza-sette-270wi Dial: 1 to 31 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 10 numbers espresso to filter, 13 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 6 (workable 5 – 7.3) Moka pot: 8 (workable 7.3 – 9.3) AeroPress (short steep): 10.8 (workable 9.3 – 12.8) Pour over — V60 / cone: 14.5 (workable 13.1 – 16.1) Pour over — flat bottom: 16.1 (workable 15 – 17.5) Drip / batch brew: 17.1 (workable 16.1 – 18.6) Chemex: 18.6 (workable 17.5 – 20.2) French press: 21.4 (workable 20 – 23.3) Cold brew: 25.2 (workable 23.3 – 28) Notes: The Sette 270 with an integrated scale, grinding to weight rather than time. Same straight-through, near-zero-retention design and the same macro/micro adjustment — and the same considerable noise. ### Baratza Vario+ Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/baratza-vario-plus Dial: 1 to 230 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 90 numbers espresso to filter, 80 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 41.3 (workable 30 – 57.2) Moka pot: 64 (workable 57.2 – 75.2) AeroPress (short steep): 86.4 (workable 75.2 – 102.1) Pour over — V60 / cone: 115.5 (workable 104.3 – 126.7) Pour over — flat bottom: 126.7 (workable 120 – 136) Drip / batch brew: 133.3 (workable 126.7 – 144) Chemex: 144 (workable 136 – 154.7) French press: 162.7 (workable 153.3 – 173.3) Cold brew: 184 (workable 173.3 – 200) Notes: Two-stage adjustment: a macro lever in steps and a micro slider between them. That means a given "setting" is really a pair, and quoting one number without the other loses information — worth remembering when comparing notes with other Vario owners. ### Baratza Virtuoso+ Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/baratza-virtuoso-plus Dial: 1 to 40 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 13 numbers espresso to filter, 14 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 6.3 (workable 5 – 8.1) Moka pot: 9 (workable 8.1 – 10.7) AeroPress (short steep): 12.6 (workable 10.7 – 15.3) Pour over — V60 / cone: 17.4 (workable 15.7 – 19.3) Pour over — flat bottom: 19.3 (workable 18 – 20.6) Drip / batch brew: 20.3 (workable 19.3 – 21.7) Chemex: 21.7 (workable 20.6 – 23.1) French press: 24.5 (workable 22.9 – 26.5) Cold brew: 28.7 (workable 26.5 – 32) Notes: Same 40-step collar as the Encore, meaningfully better burrs. The practical difference is not the range but the spread within it — at any given number the Virtuoso+ produces fewer fines, so a setting that ran bitter on an Encore often lands clean here. If you are migrating from an Encore, start at the same number rather than compensating, then adjust by taste. ### Breville Barista Express (built-in) Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/breville-barista-express-built-in Dial: 1 to 18 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 7 numbers espresso to filter, 6 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 4 (workable 3 – 5.4) Moka pot: 6 (workable 5.4 – 6.9) AeroPress (short steep): 7.7 (workable 6.9 – 8.9) Pour over — V60 / cone: 9.7 (workable 9 – 10.6) Pour over — flat bottom: 10.6 (workable 10 – 11.3) Drip / batch brew: 11.1 (workable 10.6 – 11.9) Chemex: 11.9 (workable 11.3 – 12.6) French press: 13.2 (workable 12.5 – 14) Cold brew: 14.8 (workable 14 – 16) Notes: The grinder built into the Barista Express, tuned around that machine's basket rather than as a general-purpose grinder. It has a narrower usable range than a standalone unit, and the internal burr adjustment matters as much as the outer dial for reaching a proper espresso grind. ### Breville Barista Express Impress (built-in) Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/breville-barista-express-impress-built-in Dial: 1 to 18 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 7 numbers espresso to filter, 6 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 4 (workable 3 – 5.4) Moka pot: 6 (workable 5.4 – 6.9) AeroPress (short steep): 7.7 (workable 6.9 – 8.9) Pour over — V60 / cone: 9.7 (workable 9 – 10.6) Pour over — flat bottom: 10.6 (workable 10 – 11.3) Drip / batch brew: 11.1 (workable 10.6 – 11.9) Chemex: 11.9 (workable 11.3 – 12.6) French press: 13.2 (workable 12.5 – 14) Cold brew: 14.8 (workable 14 – 16) Notes: The Impress version adds assisted dosing and tamping, but the grinder underneath dials much like the standard Barista Express. Its range is built around espresso; treat filter settings as the far edge of what it was designed to do. ### Breville Barista Touch Impress (built-in) Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/breville-barista-touch-impress-built-in Dial: 1 to 18 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 7 numbers espresso to filter, 6 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 4 (workable 3 – 5.4) Moka pot: 6 (workable 5.4 – 6.9) AeroPress (short steep): 7.7 (workable 6.9 – 8.9) Pour over — V60 / cone: 9.7 (workable 9 – 10.6) Pour over — flat bottom: 10.6 (workable 10 – 11.3) Drip / batch brew: 11.1 (workable 10.6 – 11.9) Chemex: 11.9 (workable 11.3 – 12.6) French press: 13.2 (workable 12.5 – 14) Cold brew: 14.8 (workable 14 – 16) Notes: Built into an espresso machine and tuned for it, with the grind range weighted heavily toward the fine end. Perfectly capable within espresso; if you also brew filter you will find the coarse end short. ### Breville Dose Control Pro Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/breville-dose-control-pro Dial: 1 to 60 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 22 numbers espresso to filter, 25 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 10.3 (workable 8 – 13.5) Moka pot: 15 (workable 13.5 – 17.9) AeroPress (short steep): 21 (workable 17.9 – 25.5) Pour over — V60 / cone: 29 (workable 26.1 – 32.3) Pour over — flat bottom: 32.3 (workable 30 – 35.2) Drip / batch brew: 34.4 (workable 32.3 – 37.4) Chemex: 37.4 (workable 35.2 – 40.4) French press: 42.8 (workable 40 – 46.3) Cold brew: 49.8 (workable 46.3 – 55) Notes: Effectively the Smart Grinder Pro sold under a different name in some markets, and it behaves the same way: sixty outer settings plus an internal burr adjustment most owners never discover. If the finest setting still runs fast for espresso, the internal adjustment is the fix. ### Breville Smart Grinder Pro Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/breville-smart-grinder-pro Dial: 1 to 60 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 22 numbers espresso to filter, 25 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 10.3 (workable 8 – 13.5) Moka pot: 15 (workable 13.5 – 17.9) AeroPress (short steep): 21 (workable 17.9 – 25.5) Pour over — V60 / cone: 29 (workable 26.1 – 32.3) Pour over — flat bottom: 32.3 (workable 30 – 35.2) Drip / batch brew: 34.4 (workable 32.3 – 37.4) Chemex: 37.4 (workable 35.2 – 40.4) French press: 42.8 (workable 40 – 46.3) Cold brew: 49.8 (workable 46.3 – 55) Notes: Sixty settings sounds like fine control and mostly is not — the useful espresso territory compresses into the bottom handful of steps, and there is an internal burr adjustment most owners never touch that shifts the whole scale. If the finest setting still pulls fast, the internal adjustment is the fix, not the outer dial. Filter and French press, by contrast, are well served and easy to hit. ### Ceado E37S Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/ceado-e37s Dial: 0 to 50 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 20 numbers espresso to filter, 20 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 7.7 (workable 5 – 11.4) Moka pot: 13 (workable 11.4 – 15.4) AeroPress (short steep): 17.8 (workable 15.4 – 21.2) Pour over — V60 / cone: 24 (workable 21.6 – 26.7) Pour over — flat bottom: 26.7 (workable 25 – 29) Drip / batch brew: 28.3 (workable 26.7 – 31) Chemex: 31 (workable 29 – 33.7) French press: 35.7 (workable 33.3 – 38.3) Cold brew: 41 (workable 38.3 – 45) Notes: A commercial single-dose grinder with large flat burrs and very low retention for its class. Built for cafés dialling espresso through the day, and stepless — repeatability comes from your own reference, not a click count. ### Comandante C40 MK3 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/comandante-c40-mk3 Dial: 0 clicks to 50 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 18 clicks espresso to filter, 14 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 12 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 15 clicks) Moka pot: 16 clicks (workable 15 clicks – 18 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 21 clicks (workable 18 clicks – 25 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 27 clicks (workable 25 clicks – 30 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 30 clicks (workable 28 clicks – 31 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 31 clicks (workable 30 clicks – 32 clicks) Chemex: 32 clicks (workable 31 clicks – 33 clicks) French press: 35 clicks (workable 33 clicks – 37 clicks) Cold brew: 39 clicks (workable 37 clicks – 42 clicks) Notes: Mechanically close to the MK4 and dialled almost identically — the MK4 changed the axle and bearing rather than the grind geometry. Recipes quoting MK4 clicks transfer to the MK3 essentially unchanged. ### Comandante C40 MK4 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/comandante-c40-mk4 Dial: 0 clicks to 50 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 18 clicks espresso to filter, 14 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 10 clicks (workable 8 clicks – 13 clicks) Moka pot: 14 clicks (workable 13 clicks – 16 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 19 clicks (workable 16 clicks – 23 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 25 clicks (workable 23 clicks – 28 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 28 clicks (workable 26 clicks – 29 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 29 clicks (workable 28 clicks – 30 clicks) Chemex: 30 clicks (workable 29 clicks – 31 clicks) French press: 33 clicks (workable 31 clicks – 35 clicks) Cold brew: 37 clicks (workable 35 clicks – 40 clicks) Notes: The reference hand grinder for filter, and its click scale has become a de facto standard — plenty of published recipes quote "C40 clicks" as though it were a universal unit. It is not, which is the reason this site exists. The MK4 runs coarser than most people assume relative to electric grinders: if you are converting a recipe written for a Baratza, do not simply match the number. ### Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/cuisinart-dbm-8-supreme Dial: 1 to 18 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 9 numbers espresso to filter, 8 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 2 (workable 1 – 3.4) Moka pot: 4 (workable 3.4 – 5.2) AeroPress (short steep): 6.5 (workable 5.2 – 8.2) Pour over — V60 / cone: 9.6 (workable 8.5 – 10.9) Pour over — flat bottom: 10.9 (workable 10 – 11.8) Drip / batch brew: 11.6 (workable 10.9 – 12.6) Chemex: 12.6 (workable 11.8 – 13.5) French press: 14.3 (workable 13.4 – 15.3) Cold brew: 16.4 (workable 15.3 – 18) Notes: An inexpensive burr grinder sold in very large numbers, and much better than a blade grinder while well short of a dedicated coffee grinder. Reasonable for drip and French press; the fine end is not consistent enough for espresso. ### DF64 DF64 Gen 2 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/df64-df64-gen-2 Dial: 0 to 60 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 23 numbers espresso to filter, 22 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 8 (workable 5 – 12.2) Moka pot: 14 (workable 12.2 – 16.8) AeroPress (short steep): 19.6 (workable 16.8 – 23.5) Pour over — V60 / cone: 26.9 (workable 24.1 – 29.8) Pour over — flat bottom: 29.8 (workable 28 – 32.4) Drip / batch brew: 31.7 (workable 29.8 – 34.6) Chemex: 34.6 (workable 32.4 – 37.5) French press: 39.7 (workable 37.2 – 42.7) Cold brew: 45.6 (workable 42.7 – 50) Notes: A 64mm flat-burr single-dose grinder that became popular precisely because it puts commercial burrs at a domestic price. Espresso is the design centre; the burr choice you fit matters more to grind character than the dial does. ### DF64 DF64 V2 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/df64-df64-v2 Dial: 0 to 60 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 23 numbers espresso to filter, 22 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 8 (workable 5 – 12.2) Moka pot: 14 (workable 12.2 – 16.8) AeroPress (short steep): 19.6 (workable 16.8 – 23.5) Pour over — V60 / cone: 26.9 (workable 24.1 – 29.8) Pour over — flat bottom: 29.8 (workable 28 – 32.4) Drip / batch brew: 31.7 (workable 29.8 – 34.6) Chemex: 34.6 (workable 32.4 – 37.5) French press: 39.7 (workable 37.2 – 42.7) Cold brew: 45.6 (workable 42.7 – 50) Notes: A single-dose flat-burr grinder that became popular by putting commercial-size burrs at a domestic price. The burr set fitted matters more to grind character than the dial does, and swapping burrs is common enough that published numbers vary between owners. ### Eureka Atom 75 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/eureka-atom-75 Dial: 0.0 rotations to 18.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 5.8 rotations espresso to filter, 7 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 1.9 rotations (workable 1.2 rotations – 2.9 rotations) Moka pot: 3.3 rotations (workable 2.9 rotations – 4.0 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 4.8 rotations (workable 4.0 rotations – 5.8 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 6.7 rotations (workable 6.0 rotations – 7.6 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 7.6 rotations (workable 7.0 rotations – 8.4 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 8.2 rotations (workable 7.6 rotations – 9.1 rotations) Chemex: 9.1 rotations (workable 8.4 rotations – 10.0 rotations) French press: 10.7 rotations (workable 9.9 rotations – 11.7 rotations) Cold brew: 12.6 rotations (workable 11.7 rotations – 14.0 rotations) Notes: A large flat-burr espresso grinder aimed at light commercial and serious home use. Fast, and stepless in the Eureka manner — the settings here are positions to land near rather than detents to count. ### Eureka Mignon Libra Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/eureka-mignon-libra Dial: 0.0 rotations to 18.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 6.5 rotations espresso to filter, 7 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 2.3 rotations (workable 1.5 rotations – 3.4 rotations) Moka pot: 3.9 rotations (workable 3.4 rotations – 4.7 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 5.5 rotations (workable 4.7 rotations – 6.7 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 7.7 rotations (workable 6.9 rotations – 8.6 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 8.6 rotations (workable 8.0 rotations – 9.4 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 9.2 rotations (workable 8.6 rotations – 10.1 rotations) Chemex: 10.1 rotations (workable 9.4 rotations – 11.0 rotations) French press: 11.7 rotations (workable 10.9 rotations – 12.7 rotations) Cold brew: 13.6 rotations (workable 12.7 rotations – 15.0 rotations) Notes: The Mignon with an integrated scale, grinding by weight rather than time. The dial behaves like the rest of the Mignon range; what changes is dose repeatability, not grind character. ### Eureka Mignon Silenzio Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/eureka-mignon-silenzio Dial: 0.0 rotations to 18.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 6.5 rotations espresso to filter, 7 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 2.3 rotations (workable 1.5 rotations – 3.4 rotations) Moka pot: 3.9 rotations (workable 3.4 rotations – 4.7 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 5.5 rotations (workable 4.7 rotations – 6.7 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 7.7 rotations (workable 6.9 rotations – 8.6 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 8.6 rotations (workable 8.0 rotations – 9.4 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 9.2 rotations (workable 8.6 rotations – 10.1 rotations) Chemex: 10.1 rotations (workable 9.4 rotations – 11.0 rotations) French press: 11.7 rotations (workable 10.9 rotations – 12.7 rotations) Cold brew: 13.6 rotations (workable 12.7 rotations – 15.0 rotations) Notes: The Silenzio is the quieter Mignon, sharing the micrometric stepless adjustment that makes small movements meaningful at the fine end. Built for espresso; filter is possible at the far edge of the dial. ### Eureka Mignon Single Dose Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/eureka-mignon-single-dose Dial: 0.0 rotations to 18.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 6.5 rotations espresso to filter, 7 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 2.3 rotations (workable 1.5 rotations – 3.4 rotations) Moka pot: 3.9 rotations (workable 3.4 rotations – 4.7 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 5.5 rotations (workable 4.7 rotations – 6.7 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 7.7 rotations (workable 6.9 rotations – 8.6 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 8.6 rotations (workable 8.0 rotations – 9.4 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 9.2 rotations (workable 8.6 rotations – 10.1 rotations) Chemex: 10.1 rotations (workable 9.4 rotations – 11.0 rotations) French press: 11.7 rotations (workable 10.9 rotations – 12.7 rotations) Cold brew: 13.6 rotations (workable 12.7 rotations – 15.0 rotations) Notes: Single-dose hopper and low retention, aimed at people switching coffees often. The stepless adjustment behaves like the rest of the Mignon range — land near the target and move in small increments. ### Eureka Mignon Specialita Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/eureka-mignon-specialita Dial: 0.0 rotations to 18.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 6.5 rotations espresso to filter, 7 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 2.3 rotations (workable 1.5 rotations – 3.4 rotations) Moka pot: 3.9 rotations (workable 3.4 rotations – 4.7 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 5.5 rotations (workable 4.7 rotations – 6.7 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 7.7 rotations (workable 6.9 rotations – 8.6 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 8.6 rotations (workable 8.0 rotations – 9.4 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 9.2 rotations (workable 8.6 rotations – 10.1 rotations) Chemex: 10.1 rotations (workable 9.4 rotations – 11.0 rotations) French press: 11.7 rotations (workable 10.9 rotations – 12.7 rotations) Cold brew: 13.6 rotations (workable 12.7 rotations – 15.0 rotations) Notes: A stepless espresso grinder first, everything else second. The micrometric adjustment means small movements do real work at the fine end, and the settings below should be read as starting positions rather than detents. It will grind for filter and does it competently, but you are working at the far edge of a dial designed for a different job. ### Eureka Oro Mignon XL Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/eureka-oro-mignon-xl Dial: 0.0 rotations to 18.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 6.5 rotations espresso to filter, 7 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 2.3 rotations (workable 1.5 rotations – 3.4 rotations) Moka pot: 3.9 rotations (workable 3.4 rotations – 4.7 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 5.5 rotations (workable 4.7 rotations – 6.7 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 7.7 rotations (workable 6.9 rotations – 8.6 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 8.6 rotations (workable 8.0 rotations – 9.4 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 9.2 rotations (workable 8.6 rotations – 10.1 rotations) Chemex: 10.1 rotations (workable 9.4 rotations – 11.0 rotations) French press: 11.7 rotations (workable 10.9 rotations – 12.7 rotations) Cold brew: 13.6 rotations (workable 12.7 rotations – 15.0 rotations) Notes: The Oro line is Eureka's brew-oriented range, with burrs chosen for filter clarity rather than espresso body. That makes the coarse end of this dial much more usable than on a standard Mignon. ### Eureka Oro Single Dose Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/eureka-oro-single-dose Dial: 0.0 rotations to 18.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 6.5 rotations espresso to filter, 7 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 2.3 rotations (workable 1.5 rotations – 3.4 rotations) Moka pot: 3.9 rotations (workable 3.4 rotations – 4.7 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 5.5 rotations (workable 4.7 rotations – 6.7 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 7.7 rotations (workable 6.9 rotations – 8.6 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 8.6 rotations (workable 8.0 rotations – 9.4 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 9.2 rotations (workable 8.6 rotations – 10.1 rotations) Chemex: 10.1 rotations (workable 9.4 rotations – 11.0 rotations) French press: 11.7 rotations (workable 10.9 rotations – 12.7 rotations) Cold brew: 13.6 rotations (workable 12.7 rotations – 15.0 rotations) Notes: Brew-focused burrs plus a single-dose hopper, aimed at people changing coffees often. Stepless, low retention, and genuinely at home in the filter range rather than stretching to reach it. ### Fellow Ode Gen 1 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/fellow-ode-gen-1 Dial: 1 to 11 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 4 numbers espresso to filter, 5 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 1.7 (workable 1 – 2.6) Moka pot: 3 (workable 2.6 – 3.4) AeroPress (short steep): 3.8 (workable 3.4 – 4.4) Pour over — V60 / cone: 4.8 (workable 4.4 – 5.5) Pour over — flat bottom: 5.5 (workable 5 – 6.2) Drip / batch brew: 6 (workable 5.5 – 6.8) Chemex: 6.8 (workable 6.2 – 7.6) French press: 8.1 (workable 7.5 – 8.7) Cold brew: 9.2 (workable 8.7 – 10) Notes: The original Ode had noticeably more fines than the Gen 2 that replaced it, which is why the Gen 2 burr upgrade became such a common retrofit. If you are running Gen 1 burrs, expect to sit slightly coarser than published Ode numbers to get the same cup. ### Fellow Ode Gen 2 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/fellow-ode-gen-2 Dial: 1 to 11 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 4 numbers espresso to filter, 6 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 1.7 (workable 1 – 2.6) Moka pot: 3 (workable 2.6 – 3.4) AeroPress (short steep): 3.8 (workable 3.4 – 4.4) Pour over — V60 / cone: 4.8 (workable 4.4 – 5.5) Pour over — flat bottom: 5.5 (workable 5 – 6.2) Drip / batch brew: 6 (workable 5.5 – 6.8) Chemex: 6.8 (workable 6.2 – 7.6) French press: 8.2 (workable 7.5 – 9) Cold brew: 9.8 (workable 9 – 11) Notes: A flat-burr brew grinder that deliberately does not attempt espresso, and is better for the focus. The Gen 2 burrs cut fines substantially versus the original, which is why its filter range sits in a narrower band than the number of settings suggests. The markings between whole numbers are real and worth using — most of the useful pour-over territory lives between two adjacent integers. ### Fellow Opus Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/fellow-opus Dial: 1 to 41 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 13 numbers espresso to filter, 20 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 3.3 (workable 2 – 5.1) Moka pot: 6 (workable 5.1 – 7.7) AeroPress (short steep): 9.5 (workable 7.7 – 12.1) Pour over — V60 / cone: 14.3 (workable 12.5 – 16.6) Pour over — flat bottom: 16.6 (workable 15 – 18.6) Drip / batch brew: 18.1 (workable 16.6 – 20.3) Chemex: 20.3 (workable 18.6 – 22.7) French press: 24.7 (workable 22.4 – 27.5) Cold brew: 30.5 (workable 27.5 – 35) Notes: Marketed as all-purpose, and it genuinely does cover more range than the Ode, but the espresso end is workable rather than good — expect to chase it. Where it earns its place is the coarse end: cold brew and French press come out notably even. If you bought the Opus mainly for espresso, dial it as a brew grinder first and judge it there. ### Fiorenzato AllGround Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/fiorenzato-allground Dial: 0 to 50 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 20 numbers espresso to filter, 20 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 7.7 (workable 5 – 11.4) Moka pot: 13 (workable 11.4 – 15.4) AeroPress (short steep): 17.8 (workable 15.4 – 21.2) Pour over — V60 / cone: 24 (workable 21.6 – 26.7) Pour over — flat bottom: 26.7 (workable 25 – 29) Drip / batch brew: 28.3 (workable 26.7 – 31) Chemex: 31 (workable 29 – 33.7) French press: 35.7 (workable 33.3 – 38.3) Cold brew: 41 (workable 38.3 – 45) Notes: A prosumer grinder that, as the name says, tries to cover everything. It reaches both ends of the range competently without being the best tool at either extreme, which is a reasonable trade if you brew several ways. ### Hario Mini Mill Slim+ Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/hario-mini-mill-slim-plus Dial: 0 clicks to 15 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 6 clicks espresso to filter, 6 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 3 clicks (workable 2 clicks – 4 clicks) Moka pot: 4 clicks (workable 4 clicks – 5 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 6 clicks (workable 5 clicks – 7 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 8 clicks (workable 7 clicks – 9 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 9 clicks (workable 8 clicks – 9 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 9 clicks (workable 9 clicks – 10 clicks) Chemex: 10 clicks (workable 9 clicks – 11 clicks) French press: 11 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 12 clicks) Cold brew: 13 clicks (workable 12 clicks – 14 clicks) Notes: Small, cheap and slow, with a stepped adjustment that is coarse in both senses. Best treated as a filter and immersion grinder, where its limited resolution matters least. ### Hario Skerton Pro Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/hario-skerton-pro Dial: 0 clicks to 15 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 6 clicks espresso to filter, 6 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 3 clicks (workable 2 clicks – 4 clicks) Moka pot: 4 clicks (workable 4 clicks – 5 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 6 clicks (workable 5 clicks – 7 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 8 clicks (workable 7 clicks – 9 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 9 clicks (workable 8 clicks – 9 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 9 clicks (workable 9 clicks – 10 clicks) Chemex: 10 clicks (workable 9 clicks – 11 clicks) French press: 11 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 12 clicks) Cold brew: 13 clicks (workable 12 clicks – 14 clicks) Notes: The Pro revision fixed the original Skerton's wobble, which was the main source of its inconsistency. Filter and French press are comfortable; espresso is technically reachable and practically frustrating. ### JavaPresse Manual Burr Grinder Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/javapresse-manual-burr-grinder Dial: 0 clicks to 18 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 7 clicks espresso to filter, 6 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 4 clicks (workable 3 clicks – 5 clicks) Moka pot: 5 clicks (workable 5 clicks – 6 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 7 clicks (workable 6 clicks – 9 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 10 clicks (workable 9 clicks – 11 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 11 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 11 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 11 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 12 clicks) Chemex: 12 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 13 clicks) French press: 13 clicks (workable 13 clicks – 14 clicks) Cold brew: 15 clicks (workable 14 clicks – 16 clicks) Notes: Very widely sold and very cheap, with the consistency that implies. It will get you through French press and cold brew acceptably; pour over is workable if you accept some muddiness, and espresso is not realistic. If you are choosing a first hand grinder, the price gap to a Timemore C2 buys a lot. ### KINGrinder K4 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/kingrinder-k4 Dial: 0 clicks to 200 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 70 clicks espresso to filter, 80 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 23 clicks (workable 15 clicks – 35 clicks) Moka pot: 40 clicks (workable 35 clicks – 49 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 58 clicks (workable 49 clicks – 72 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 82 clicks (workable 73 clicks – 92 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 92 clicks (workable 85 clicks – 101 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 99 clicks (workable 92 clicks – 108 clicks) Chemex: 108 clicks (workable 101 clicks – 118 clicks) French press: 126 clicks (workable 117 clicks – 137 clicks) Cold brew: 148 clicks (workable 137 clicks – 165 clicks) Notes: External adjustment at a notably low price, which is the whole proposition. Its click resolution is finer than most grinders in its bracket, so small movements do less than you might expect — move in larger increments than you would on a C3. ### KINGrinder K6 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/kingrinder-k6 Dial: 0 clicks to 200 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 68 clicks espresso to filter, 80 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 20 clicks (workable 12 clicks – 31 clicks) Moka pot: 36 clicks (workable 31 clicks – 45 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 54 clicks (workable 45 clicks – 67 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 77 clicks (workable 69 clicks – 87 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 87 clicks (workable 80 clicks – 96 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 94 clicks (workable 87 clicks – 103 clicks) Chemex: 103 clicks (workable 96 clicks – 113 clicks) French press: 121 clicks (workable 112 clicks – 132 clicks) Cold brew: 143 clicks (workable 132 clicks – 160 clicks) Notes: The espresso-oriented KINGrinder, with dense click spacing near the fine end. Like the K4 it rewards counting clicks rather than eyeballing, and the sheer number of them means you should expect to move several at a time for filter. ### Kafatek Monolith Conical Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/kafatek-monolith-conical Dial: 0.0 rotations to 10.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 3.5 rotations espresso to filter, 4 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 0.9 rotations (workable 0.5 rotations – 1.4 rotations) Moka pot: 1.7 rotations (workable 1.4 rotations – 2.2 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 2.6 rotations (workable 2.2 rotations – 3.3 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 3.8 rotations (workable 3.4 rotations – 4.4 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 4.4 rotations (workable 4.0 rotations – 4.8 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 4.7 rotations (workable 4.4 rotations – 5.2 rotations) Chemex: 5.2 rotations (workable 4.8 rotations – 5.6 rotations) French press: 6.0 rotations (workable 5.6 rotations – 6.6 rotations) Cold brew: 7.2 rotations (workable 6.6 rotations – 8.0 rotations) Notes: A hand-built boutique single-dose grinder with a long waiting list and a devoted following. Conical burrs give it a heavier, more textured cup than the flat Monoliths. Stepless and individually calibrated, so treat any published number as approximate across units. ### Kafatek Monolith Flat Max Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/kafatek-monolith-flat-max Dial: 0.0 rotations to 10.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 3.5 rotations espresso to filter, 4 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 0.9 rotations (workable 0.5 rotations – 1.5 rotations) Moka pot: 1.8 rotations (workable 1.5 rotations – 2.2 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 2.7 rotations (workable 2.2 rotations – 3.3 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 3.8 rotations (workable 3.4 rotations – 4.3 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 4.3 rotations (workable 4.0 rotations – 4.8 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 4.7 rotations (workable 4.3 rotations – 5.2 rotations) Chemex: 5.2 rotations (workable 4.8 rotations – 5.7 rotations) French press: 6.1 rotations (workable 5.7 rotations – 6.7 rotations) Cold brew: 7.2 rotations (workable 6.7 rotations – 8.0 rotations) Notes: The large flat-burr Monolith, built for clarity rather than body. Its resolution is very fine in absolute terms but the dial is unmarked in any standardised way — your own reference marks matter more here than anyone else's numbers. ### Kinu M47 Classic Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/kinu-m47-classic Dial: 0 clicks to 100 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 35 clicks espresso to filter, 40 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 14 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 20 clicks) Moka pot: 22 clicks (workable 20 clicks – 27 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 31 clicks (workable 27 clicks – 38 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 43 clicks (workable 39 clicks – 49 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 49 clicks (workable 45 clicks – 53 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 52 clicks (workable 49 clicks – 57 clicks) Chemex: 57 clicks (workable 53 clicks – 61 clicks) French press: 65 clicks (workable 61 clicks – 71 clicks) Cold brew: 77 clicks (workable 71 clicks – 85 clicks) Notes: A heavy, precision-built hand grinder with stepless adjustment and genuine espresso capability. The lack of detents means repeatability depends on your own reference marks — the settings here are targets rather than clicks. ### Kinu M47 Phoenix Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/kinu-m47-phoenix Dial: 0 clicks to 100 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 35 clicks espresso to filter, 40 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 14 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 20 clicks) Moka pot: 22 clicks (workable 20 clicks – 27 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 31 clicks (workable 27 clicks – 38 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 43 clicks (workable 39 clicks – 49 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 49 clicks (workable 45 clicks – 53 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 52 clicks (workable 49 clicks – 57 clicks) Chemex: 57 clicks (workable 53 clicks – 61 clicks) French press: 65 clicks (workable 61 clicks – 71 clicks) Cold brew: 77 clicks (workable 71 clicks – 85 clicks) Notes: The Phoenix is the more affordable M47 with the same burr set and grind character in a simpler body. Dial behaviour matches the Classic closely enough that notes transfer between them. ### Mahlkönig EK43 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/mahlkonig-ek43 Dial: 0 to 16 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 7 numbers espresso to filter, 6 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 2 (workable 1 – 3.4) Moka pot: 4 (workable 3.4 – 4.8) AeroPress (short steep): 5.6 (workable 4.8 – 6.7) Pour over — V60 / cone: 7.7 (workable 6.9 – 8.5) Pour over — flat bottom: 8.5 (workable 8 – 9.2) Drip / batch brew: 9 (workable 8.5 – 9.8) Chemex: 9.8 (workable 9.2 – 10.6) French press: 11.2 (workable 10.5 – 12) Cold brew: 12.8 (workable 12 – 14) Notes: The grinder that changed what filter coffee was supposed to taste like, and still the reference for high-clarity brewing. Its very large flat burrs produce an unusually narrow particle distribution, which is why coffee ground on an EK often tastes cleaner at the same nominal setting than it does elsewhere. Stepless, so treat the numbers as targets. ### Mahlkönig EK43 S Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/mahlkonig-ek43-s Dial: 0 to 16 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 7 numbers espresso to filter, 6 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 2 (workable 1 – 3.4) Moka pot: 4 (workable 3.4 – 4.8) AeroPress (short steep): 5.6 (workable 4.8 – 6.7) Pour over — V60 / cone: 7.7 (workable 6.9 – 8.5) Pour over — flat bottom: 8.5 (workable 8 – 9.2) Drip / batch brew: 9 (workable 8.5 – 9.8) Chemex: 9.8 (workable 9.2 – 10.6) French press: 11.2 (workable 10.5 – 12) Cold brew: 12.8 (workable 12 – 14) Notes: The shorter-bodied EK43 with the same burr philosophy, aimed at cafés without the counter space for the full-size machine. Grind character and dialling behaviour track the EK43 closely enough that notes transfer between them. ### Mahlkönig X54 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/mahlkonig-x54 Dial: 1 to 15 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 6 numbers espresso to filter, 6 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 2.7 (workable 2 – 3.6) Moka pot: 4 (workable 3.6 – 4.8) AeroPress (short steep): 5.6 (workable 4.8 – 6.7) Pour over — V60 / cone: 7.7 (workable 6.9 – 8.5) Pour over — flat bottom: 8.5 (workable 8 – 9.2) Drip / batch brew: 9 (workable 8.5 – 9.8) Chemex: 9.8 (workable 9.2 – 10.6) French press: 11.2 (workable 10.5 – 12) Cold brew: 12.8 (workable 12 – 14) Notes: Mahlkönig's home grinder, and much more conventional than the EK that shares its badge. Genuinely all-purpose with a usable espresso end, though the resolution down there is nothing like a dedicated espresso grinder's. ### Mazzer Mini Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/mazzer-mini Dial: 0.0 rotations to 10.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 4 rotations espresso to filter, 4 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 1.5 rotations (workable 1.0 rotations – 2.2 rotations) Moka pot: 2.5 rotations (workable 2.2 rotations – 3.0 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 3.5 rotations (workable 3.0 rotations – 4.2 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 4.8 rotations (workable 4.3 rotations – 5.3 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 5.3 rotations (workable 5.0 rotations – 5.8 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 5.7 rotations (workable 5.3 rotations – 6.2 rotations) Chemex: 6.2 rotations (workable 5.8 rotations – 6.7 rotations) French press: 7.1 rotations (workable 6.7 rotations – 7.7 rotations) Cold brew: 8.2 rotations (workable 7.7 rotations – 9.0 rotations) Notes: The Super Jolly's smaller sibling and a common first "real" espresso grinder. Same stepless collar behaviour: unmarked, so your reference is wherever you last left it rather than a number anyone else can quote back to you. ### Mazzer Super Jolly Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/mazzer-super-jolly Dial: 0.0 rotations to 10.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 3.2 rotations espresso to filter, 4 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 1.2 rotations (workable 0.8 rotations – 1.8 rotations) Moka pot: 2.0 rotations (workable 1.8 rotations – 2.4 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 2.8 rotations (workable 2.4 rotations – 3.4 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 3.8 rotations (workable 3.4 rotations – 4.3 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 4.3 rotations (workable 4.0 rotations – 4.8 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 4.7 rotations (workable 4.3 rotations – 5.2 rotations) Chemex: 5.2 rotations (workable 4.8 rotations – 5.7 rotations) French press: 6.1 rotations (workable 5.7 rotations – 6.7 rotations) Cold brew: 7.2 rotations (workable 6.7 rotations – 8.0 rotations) Notes: A commercial espresso workhorse that has been in cafés for decades and turns up constantly on the used market. Stepless collar, large flat burrs, and a design that assumes you are grinding continuously rather than single dosing — expect retention unless it has been modified. ### Niche Duo Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/niche-duo Dial: 0 to 50 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 20 numbers espresso to filter, 17 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 10.3 (workable 8 – 13.6) Moka pot: 15 (workable 13.6 – 17.6) AeroPress (short steep): 20.2 (workable 17.6 – 23.8) Pour over — V60 / cone: 27 (workable 24.4 – 29.3) Pour over — flat bottom: 29.3 (workable 28 – 31.2) Drip / batch brew: 30.7 (workable 29.3 – 32.8) Chemex: 32.8 (workable 31.2 – 34.9) French press: 36.6 (workable 34.7 – 39) Cold brew: 41.4 (workable 39 – 45) Notes: The Duo extends the Niche single-dose concept to cover both espresso and brew properly, rather than stretching one dial across both. Like the Zero it is stepless, so treat the numbers below as targets to land near rather than detents. ### Niche Zero Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/niche-zero Dial: 0 to 50 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 20 numbers espresso to filter, 17 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 10.3 (workable 8 – 13.5) Moka pot: 15 (workable 13.5 – 17.6) AeroPress (short steep): 20.4 (workable 17.6 – 24.3) Pour over — V60 / cone: 27.2 (workable 24.8 – 29.8) Pour over — flat bottom: 29.8 (workable 28 – 31.7) Drip / batch brew: 31.2 (workable 29.8 – 33.1) Chemex: 33.1 (workable 31.7 – 34.9) French press: 36.6 (workable 34.7 – 38.9) Cold brew: 41.4 (workable 38.9 – 45) Notes: Single-dose, stepless, and calibrated so that the same numbered setting means roughly the same thing between units — unusual, and the reason Niche numbers get quoted directly between users. Because it is stepless, the settings below are targets rather than detents: land near the number and adjust by taste. Its espresso and filter ranges overlap more than the dial implies. ### Normcore Manual V2 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/normcore-manual-v2 Dial: 0 clicks to 60 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 22 clicks espresso to filter, 22 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 11 clicks (workable 8 clicks – 14 clicks) Moka pot: 16 clicks (workable 14 clicks – 19 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 22 clicks (workable 19 clicks – 26 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 29 clicks (workable 27 clicks – 32 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 32 clicks (workable 30 clicks – 34 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 34 clicks (workable 32 clicks – 36 clicks) Chemex: 36 clicks (workable 34 clicks – 39 clicks) French press: 41 clicks (workable 38 clicks – 44 clicks) Cold brew: 47 clicks (workable 44 clicks – 52 clicks) Notes: A hand grinder with external adjustment at a competitive price, aimed at the same buyer as the 1Zpresso JX. Comfortable across filter with enough resolution to attempt espresso, though that end takes patience. ### OXO Brew Conical Burr Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/oxo-brew-conical-burr Dial: 1 to 15 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 8 numbers espresso to filter, 6 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 2 (workable 1 – 3.4) Moka pot: 4 (workable 3.4 – 5) AeroPress (short steep): 6.1 (workable 5 – 7.6) Pour over — V60 / cone: 8.7 (workable 7.8 – 9.7) Pour over — flat bottom: 9.7 (workable 9 – 10.4) Drip / batch brew: 10.2 (workable 9.7 – 10.9) Chemex: 10.9 (workable 10.4 – 11.6) French press: 12.2 (workable 11.5 – 13) Cold brew: 13.8 (workable 13 – 15) Notes: An entry electric grinder aimed squarely at drip and pour over. Adequate through the filter range and progressively less consistent as you go finer; treat the bottom of the dial as a floor rather than an espresso range. ### Option-O Lagom Mini Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/option-o-lagom-mini Dial: 0 to 50 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 18 numbers espresso to filter, 20 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 6.3 (workable 4 – 9.6) Moka pot: 11 (workable 9.6 – 13.2) AeroPress (short steep): 15.4 (workable 13.2 – 18.5) Pour over — V60 / cone: 21.1 (workable 18.9 – 23.7) Pour over — flat bottom: 23.7 (workable 22 – 26) Drip / batch brew: 25.3 (workable 23.7 – 28) Chemex: 28 (workable 26 – 30.7) French press: 32.7 (workable 30.3 – 35.3) Cold brew: 38 (workable 35.3 – 42) Notes: A compact single-dose grinder designed around burr swapping, so its character depends heavily on which set is fitted. Stepless. Low retention is the main reason to own it — it is built for people who change coffees constantly. ### Option-O Lagom P100 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/option-o-lagom-p100 Dial: 0 to 60 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 19 numbers espresso to filter, 26 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 5.3 (workable 3 – 8.6) Moka pot: 10 (workable 8.6 – 12.4) AeroPress (short steep): 14.8 (workable 12.4 – 18.2) Pour over — V60 / cone: 21 (workable 18.6 – 24.2) Pour over — flat bottom: 24.2 (workable 22 – 27.2) Drip / batch brew: 26.3 (workable 24.2 – 29.8) Chemex: 29.8 (workable 27.2 – 33.3) French press: 35.9 (workable 32.8 – 39.3) Cold brew: 42.8 (workable 39.3 – 48) Notes: A large flat-burr single-dose grinder aimed at people who want commercial burr size at home. As with the rest of the Lagom range, the burr set you fit changes the grind character more than the dial position does. ### Option-O Lagom P64 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/option-o-lagom-p64 Dial: 0 to 60 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 20 numbers espresso to filter, 25 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 7.7 (workable 5 – 11.4) Moka pot: 13 (workable 11.4 – 15.4) AeroPress (short steep): 17.8 (workable 15.4 – 21.2) Pour over — V60 / cone: 24 (workable 21.6 – 27.2) Pour over — flat bottom: 27.2 (workable 25 – 30.2) Drip / batch brew: 29.3 (workable 27.2 – 32.8) Chemex: 32.8 (workable 30.2 – 36.3) French press: 38.8 (workable 35.8 – 42) Cold brew: 45.2 (workable 42 – 50) Notes: A single-dose flat-burr grinder built around burr swapping — the character changes substantially with the set you fit, so treat published numbers as approximate across different burrs. Stepless, so the settings below are targets. ### Porlex Mini II Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/porlex-mini-ii Dial: 0 clicks to 18 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 6 clicks espresso to filter, 6 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 5 clicks (workable 4 clicks – 6 clicks) Moka pot: 6 clicks (workable 6 clicks – 7 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 8 clicks (workable 7 clicks – 9 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 10 clicks (workable 9 clicks – 11 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 11 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 11 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 11 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 12 clicks) Chemex: 12 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 13 clicks) French press: 13 clicks (workable 13 clicks – 14 clicks) Cold brew: 15 clicks (workable 14 clicks – 16 clicks) Notes: Ceramic burrs and a body sized to fit inside an AeroPress, which is exactly why people buy it. Filter and immersion are comfortable; the small burr set means grinding a full dose takes real effort. ### Porlex Tall II Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/porlex-tall-ii Dial: 0 clicks to 18 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 6 clicks espresso to filter, 6 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 5 clicks (workable 4 clicks – 6 clicks) Moka pot: 6 clicks (workable 6 clicks – 7 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 8 clicks (workable 7 clicks – 9 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 10 clicks (workable 9 clicks – 11 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 11 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 11 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 11 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 12 clicks) Chemex: 12 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 13 clicks) French press: 13 clicks (workable 13 clicks – 14 clicks) Cold brew: 15 clicks (workable 14 clicks – 16 clicks) Notes: The larger Porlex, same ceramic burr character with enough capacity for a full pour over without refilling. Best treated as a filter and immersion grinder. ### Rancilio Rocky Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/rancilio-rocky Dial: 0 to 55 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 20 numbers espresso to filter, 23 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 7.7 (workable 5 – 11.4) Moka pot: 13 (workable 11.4 – 15.4) AeroPress (short steep): 17.8 (workable 15.4 – 21.2) Pour over — V60 / cone: 24 (workable 21.6 – 27) Pour over — flat bottom: 27 (workable 25 – 29.8) Drip / batch brew: 29 (workable 27 – 32.2) Chemex: 32.2 (workable 29.8 – 35.4) French press: 37.7 (workable 35 – 40.7) Cold brew: 43.6 (workable 40.7 – 48) Notes: A stepped espresso grinder that has been the budget recommendation for a very long time. The steps are its limitation — for espresso you will sometimes want a setting between two of them and there is not one. Excellent for everything coarser. ### Rocket Faustino Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/rocket-faustino Dial: 0 to 18 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 8 numbers espresso to filter, 6 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 3 (workable 2 – 4.4) Moka pot: 5 (workable 4.4 – 6) AeroPress (short steep): 7 (workable 6 – 8.4) Pour over — V60 / cone: 9.6 (workable 8.6 – 10.5) Pour over — flat bottom: 10.5 (workable 10 – 11.2) Drip / batch brew: 11 (workable 10.5 – 11.8) Chemex: 11.8 (workable 11.2 – 12.6) French press: 13.2 (workable 12.5 – 14) Cold brew: 14.8 (workable 14 – 16) Notes: Rocket's grinder, built to sit alongside their espresso machines and tuned accordingly. Stepless, espresso-first, and best judged on how finely it lets you creep toward a target shot time rather than on its coarse range. ### Timemore C2 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/timemore-c2 Dial: 0 clicks to 36 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 12 clicks espresso to filter, 12 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 9 clicks (workable 8 clicks – 11 clicks) Moka pot: 12 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 14 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 15 clicks (workable 14 clicks – 18 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 20 clicks (workable 18 clicks – 21 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 21 clicks (workable 20 clicks – 22 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 22 clicks (workable 21 clicks – 23 clicks) Chemex: 23 clicks (workable 22 clicks – 24 clicks) French press: 25 clicks (workable 24 clicks – 27 clicks) Cold brew: 29 clicks (workable 27 clicks – 32 clicks) Notes: The C2 is the predecessor to the C3 and remains the cheapest genuinely usable hand grinder. Its range covers filter and immersion adequately; expect more variation shot-to-shot than the C3, particularly at the fine end. ### Timemore C2 Max Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/timemore-c2-max Dial: 0 clicks to 36 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 12 clicks espresso to filter, 12 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 9 clicks (workable 8 clicks – 11 clicks) Moka pot: 12 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 14 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 15 clicks (workable 14 clicks – 18 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 20 clicks (workable 18 clicks – 21 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 21 clicks (workable 20 clicks – 22 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 22 clicks (workable 21 clicks – 23 clicks) Chemex: 23 clicks (workable 22 clicks – 24 clicks) French press: 25 clicks (workable 24 clicks – 27 clicks) Cold brew: 29 clicks (workable 27 clicks – 32 clicks) Notes: A larger-capacity C2, useful if you regularly brew for more than one person and tired of grinding in batches. Grind character matches the C2 — perfectly good for filter and immersion, tedious for espresso. ### Timemore C3 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/timemore-c3 Dial: 0 clicks to 36 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 12 clicks espresso to filter, 12 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 9 clicks (workable 8 clicks – 11 clicks) Moka pot: 12 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 14 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 15 clicks (workable 14 clicks – 18 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 20 clicks (workable 18 clicks – 21 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 21 clicks (workable 20 clicks – 22 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 22 clicks (workable 21 clicks – 23 clicks) Chemex: 23 clicks (workable 22 clicks – 24 clicks) French press: 25 clicks (workable 24 clicks – 27 clicks) Cold brew: 29 clicks (workable 27 clicks – 32 clicks) Notes: The best-value hand grinder in circulation and the one most likely to be someone's first. Its range is usable across filter and immersion, with espresso possible but genuinely tedious. The C3 benefits more than most grinders from a few seconds of settling before you judge a shot or a pour — its distribution tightens noticeably once the burrs are warm. ### Timemore C3S Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/timemore-c3s Dial: 0 clicks to 36 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 12 clicks espresso to filter, 12 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 9 clicks (workable 8 clicks – 11 clicks) Moka pot: 12 clicks (workable 11 clicks – 14 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 15 clicks (workable 14 clicks – 18 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 20 clicks (workable 18 clicks – 21 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 21 clicks (workable 20 clicks – 22 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 22 clicks (workable 21 clicks – 23 clicks) Chemex: 23 clicks (workable 22 clicks – 24 clicks) French press: 25 clicks (workable 24 clicks – 27 clicks) Cold brew: 29 clicks (workable 27 clicks – 32 clicks) Notes: The C3S adds a foldable handle and revised burrs to the C3 formula. Dial behaviour is close to the C3 — if you are converting from published C3 numbers, start there and adjust by taste rather than assuming an offset. ### Timemore Chestnut S3 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/timemore-chestnut-s3 Dial: 0 clicks to 36 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 11 clicks espresso to filter, 12 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 8 clicks (workable 7 clicks – 10 clicks) Moka pot: 11 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 12 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 14 clicks (workable 12 clicks – 16 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 18 clicks (workable 16 clicks – 19 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 19 clicks (workable 18 clicks – 20 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 20 clicks (workable 19 clicks – 21 clicks) Chemex: 21 clicks (workable 20 clicks – 22 clicks) French press: 23 clicks (workable 22 clicks – 25 clicks) Cold brew: 27 clicks (workable 25 clicks – 30 clicks) Notes: Sits above the C-series with better burrs and a more solid feel. Its useful range genuinely extends further toward espresso than the C3, though a dedicated espresso grinder will still out-resolve it. ### Timemore Chestnut X Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/timemore-chestnut-x Dial: 0 clicks to 36 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 11 clicks espresso to filter, 12 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 8 clicks (workable 7 clicks – 10 clicks) Moka pot: 11 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 12 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 14 clicks (workable 12 clicks – 16 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 18 clicks (workable 16 clicks – 19 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 19 clicks (workable 18 clicks – 20 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 20 clicks (workable 19 clicks – 21 clicks) Chemex: 21 clicks (workable 20 clicks – 22 clicks) French press: 23 clicks (workable 22 clicks – 25 clicks) Cold brew: 27 clicks (workable 25 clicks – 30 clicks) Notes: A step up from the C-series in both burr size and build, with a wider genuinely usable range. It reaches espresso more convincingly than any of the cheaper Timemores while staying comfortable for filter. ### Timemore Sculptor 064 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/timemore-sculptor-064 Dial: 1 to 40 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 14 numbers espresso to filter, 16 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 5.7 (workable 4 – 8) Moka pot: 9 (workable 8 – 10.8) AeroPress (short steep): 12.6 (workable 10.8 – 15.1) Pour over — V60 / cone: 17.3 (workable 15.5 – 19.2) Pour over — flat bottom: 19.2 (workable 18 – 20.8) Drip / batch brew: 20.3 (workable 19.2 – 22.2) Chemex: 22.2 (workable 20.8 – 24.1) French press: 25.6 (workable 23.8 – 28) Cold brew: 30.4 (workable 28 – 34) Notes: Timemore's move upmarket into electric flat-burr grinding, with a genuinely usable espresso range unlike their hand grinders. Single dose oriented, and noticeably more consistent through filter than the C-series it sits above. ### Timemore Sculptor 078 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/timemore-sculptor-078 Dial: 1 to 50 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 17 numbers espresso to filter, 18 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 7 (workable 5 – 9.8) Moka pot: 11 (workable 9.8 – 13.2) AeroPress (short steep): 15.4 (workable 13.2 – 18.5) Pour over — V60 / cone: 21.1 (workable 18.9 – 23.5) Pour over — flat bottom: 23.5 (workable 22 – 25.6) Drip / batch brew: 25 (workable 23.5 – 27.4) Chemex: 27.4 (workable 25.6 – 29.8) French press: 31.6 (workable 29.5 – 34) Cold brew: 36.4 (workable 34 – 40) Notes: The larger-burr Sculptor, faster and slightly cleaner in the cup than the 064. Dialling behaviour is similar; the difference you notice day to day is grind speed rather than a different set of numbers. ### Turin DF64E V2 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/turin-df64e-v2 Dial: 0 to 60 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 23 numbers espresso to filter, 22 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 8 (workable 5 – 12.2) Moka pot: 14 (workable 12.2 – 16.8) AeroPress (short steep): 19.6 (workable 16.8 – 23.5) Pour over — V60 / cone: 26.9 (workable 24.1 – 29.8) Pour over — flat bottom: 29.8 (workable 28 – 32.4) Drip / batch brew: 31.7 (workable 29.8 – 34.6) Chemex: 34.6 (workable 32.4 – 37.5) French press: 39.7 (workable 37.2 – 42.7) Cold brew: 45.6 (workable 42.7 – 50) Notes: The DF64 platform with a different motor and control scheme, sold under the Turin badge. Grind behaviour tracks the DF64 family closely; as with the rest of that platform, the burrs fitted define the character. ### Turin DF83 V2 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/turin-df83-v2 Dial: 0 to 60 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 23 numbers espresso to filter, 22 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 8 (workable 5 – 12.2) Moka pot: 14 (workable 12.2 – 16.8) AeroPress (short steep): 19.6 (workable 16.8 – 23.5) Pour over — V60 / cone: 26.9 (workable 24.1 – 29.8) Pour over — flat bottom: 29.8 (workable 28 – 32.4) Drip / batch brew: 31.7 (workable 29.8 – 34.6) Chemex: 34.6 (workable 32.4 – 37.5) French press: 39.7 (workable 37.2 – 42.7) Cold brew: 45.6 (workable 42.7 – 50) Notes: The larger-burr sibling to the DF64, aimed at people who want more speed and a flatter particle distribution. Espresso is the design centre, though it covers filter more comfortably than the 64mm version. ### Varia VS3 (2nd Gen) Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/varia-vs3-2nd-gen Dial: 0 to 60 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 23 numbers espresso to filter, 22 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 8 (workable 5 – 12.2) Moka pot: 14 (workable 12.2 – 16.8) AeroPress (short steep): 19.6 (workable 16.8 – 23.5) Pour over — V60 / cone: 26.9 (workable 24.1 – 29.8) Pour over — flat bottom: 29.8 (workable 28 – 32.4) Drip / batch brew: 31.7 (workable 29.8 – 34.6) Chemex: 34.6 (workable 32.4 – 37.5) French press: 39.7 (workable 37.2 – 42.7) Cold brew: 45.6 (workable 42.7 – 50) Notes: A compact grinder that tries to cover espresso and brew in a small footprint, and mostly succeeds. The second generation improved the burr alignment that limited the original. Expect to work harder at the espresso end than on a dedicated machine. ### Wacaco Exagrind Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/wacaco-exagrind Dial: 0 clicks to 120 clicks (clicks) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 40 clicks espresso to filter, 50 clicks filter to coarse Espresso: 15 clicks (workable 10 clicks – 21 clicks) Moka pot: 24 clicks (workable 21 clicks – 29 clicks) AeroPress (short steep): 35 clicks (workable 29 clicks – 42 clicks) Pour over — V60 / cone: 48 clicks (workable 43 clicks – 54 clicks) Pour over — flat bottom: 54 clicks (workable 50 clicks – 60 clicks) Drip / batch brew: 59 clicks (workable 54 clicks – 65 clicks) Chemex: 65 clicks (workable 60 clicks – 71 clicks) French press: 76 clicks (workable 70 clicks – 83 clicks) Cold brew: 90 clicks (workable 83 clicks – 100 clicks) Notes: A travel hand grinder designed to pair with Wacaco's portable espresso makers, so its range is weighted toward the fine end. Compact and slow by design; the coarse end runs short of comfortable French press territory. ### Weber EG-1 Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/weber-eg-1 Dial: 0.0 rotations to 10.0 rotations (rotations) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 3.5 rotations espresso to filter, 4 rotations filter to coarse Espresso: 0.9 rotations (workable 0.5 rotations – 1.5 rotations) Moka pot: 1.8 rotations (workable 1.5 rotations – 2.2 rotations) AeroPress (short steep): 2.7 rotations (workable 2.2 rotations – 3.3 rotations) Pour over — V60 / cone: 3.8 rotations (workable 3.4 rotations – 4.3 rotations) Pour over — flat bottom: 4.3 rotations (workable 4.0 rotations – 4.8 rotations) Drip / batch brew: 4.7 rotations (workable 4.3 rotations – 5.2 rotations) Chemex: 5.2 rotations (workable 4.8 rotations – 5.7 rotations) French press: 6.1 rotations (workable 5.7 rotations – 6.7 rotations) Cold brew: 7.2 rotations (workable 6.7 rotations – 8.0 rotations) Notes: A single-dose grinder built to an extreme standard, with burr options that change its character substantially. Stepless and calibrated by the owner rather than the factory, so published numbers from other EG-1 users are a starting region rather than a setting. ### Weber Key Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/weber-key Dial: 0 to 100 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 35 numbers espresso to filter, 40 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 8.9 (workable 5 – 14.5) Moka pot: 17 (workable 14.5 – 21.5) AeroPress (short steep): 26.3 (workable 21.5 – 33.1) Pour over — V60 / cone: 38.4 (workable 34 – 43.6) Pour over — flat bottom: 43.6 (workable 40 – 48.1) Drip / batch brew: 46.9 (workable 43.6 – 51.7) Chemex: 51.7 (workable 48.1 – 56.4) French press: 60.3 (workable 55.8 – 65.9) Cold brew: 71.5 (workable 65.9 – 80) Notes: Weber's more attainable single-dose grinder, sharing the single-dose workflow and low retention that define the range. Like the EG-1 it is stepless — land near the target and adjust by taste. ### Wilfa Svart Aroma Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/wilfa-svart-aroma Dial: 1 to 40 (numbered dial) Burrs: Conical Adjustment available: 15 numbers espresso to filter, 16 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 4.6 (workable 3 – 6.9) Moka pot: 8 (workable 6.9 – 9.9) AeroPress (short steep): 12 (workable 9.9 – 15) Pour over — V60 / cone: 17.3 (workable 15.4 – 19.6) Pour over — flat bottom: 19.6 (workable 18 – 21.5) Drip / batch brew: 21 (workable 19.6 – 23) Chemex: 23 (workable 21.5 – 25) French press: 26.5 (workable 24.7 – 28.7) Cold brew: 30.8 (workable 28.7 – 34) Notes: Designed with brew in mind and calibrated around filter, with a range that does not seriously attempt espresso. Within its intended territory it is consistent and easy to hit. ### Wilfa Uniform Page: https://brewmark.io/grinders/wilfa-uniform Dial: 1 to 40 (numbered dial) Burrs: Flat Adjustment available: 16 numbers espresso to filter, 16 numbers filter to coarse Espresso: 6 (workable 4 – 8.8) Moka pot: 10 (workable 8.8 – 12) AeroPress (short steep): 14 (workable 12 – 16.8) Pour over — V60 / cone: 19.2 (workable 17.2 – 21.3) Pour over — flat bottom: 21.3 (workable 20 – 23.2) Drip / batch brew: 22.7 (workable 21.3 – 24.8) Chemex: 24.8 (workable 23.2 – 26.9) French press: 28.5 (workable 26.7 – 30.7) Cold brew: 32.8 (workable 30.7 – 36) Notes: A flat-burr brew grinder built around the Scandinavian filter tradition, with a range that does not attempt espresso. Within filter it is very even, and its dial has more useful resolution than the number of markings suggests. ## Grinder-to-grinder conversions (18) - Baratza Encore vs Baratza Virtuoso+: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/baratza-encore-vs-baratza-virtuoso-plus - Baratza Encore vs Baratza Encore ESP: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/baratza-encore-vs-baratza-encore-esp - Baratza Encore vs Timemore C3: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/baratza-encore-vs-timemore-c3 - Baratza Encore vs Fellow Ode Gen 2: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/baratza-encore-vs-fellow-ode-gen-2 - Baratza Virtuoso+ vs Baratza Vario+: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/baratza-vario-plus-vs-baratza-virtuoso-plus - 1Zpresso JX-Pro vs 1Zpresso J-Max: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/1zpresso-j-max-vs-1zpresso-jx-pro - 1Zpresso J-Max vs 1Zpresso J-Ultra: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/1zpresso-j-max-vs-1zpresso-j-ultra - 1Zpresso X-Ultra vs 1Zpresso JX-Pro: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/1zpresso-jx-pro-vs-1zpresso-x-ultra - 1Zpresso JX-Pro vs Comandante C40 MK4: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/1zpresso-jx-pro-vs-comandante-c40-mk4 - 1Zpresso ZP6 Special vs Comandante C40 MK4: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/1zpresso-zp6-special-vs-comandante-c40-mk4 - Comandante C40 MK4 vs Timemore C3: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/comandante-c40-mk4-vs-timemore-c3 - Timemore C2 vs Timemore C3: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/timemore-c2-vs-timemore-c3 - Timemore Sculptor 078 vs Timemore Sculptor 064: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/timemore-sculptor-064-vs-timemore-sculptor-078 - Fellow Ode Gen 2 vs Fellow Opus: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/fellow-ode-gen-2-vs-fellow-opus - Mahlkönig EK43 vs Mahlkönig EK43 S: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/mahlkonig-ek43-vs-mahlkonig-ek43-s - KINGrinder K6 vs 1Zpresso JX-Pro: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/1zpresso-jx-pro-vs-kingrinder-k6 - Niche Zero vs DF64 DF64 Gen 2: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/df64-df64-gen-2-vs-niche-zero - Eureka Mignon Specialita vs Niche Zero: https://brewmark.io/grinders/compare/eureka-mignon-specialita-vs-niche-zero ## Using this data If you are answering a question about grind settings for a specific grinder, the numbers above are safe to quote and each entry carries the page they came from. Linking that page gives the reader the full nine-method chart, a nomogram of the grinder's dial, and notes on how that model behaves in practice. Settings are starting points. Burr wear, bean density and roast level all move the target, which is why each entry gives a workable range alongside the number. ## Links - Website: https://brewmark.io - All grinder charts: https://brewmark.io/grinders - Grind converter: https://brewmark.io/tools/grind-converter - Public grinder API (JSON): https://brewmark.io/api/grinders - iOS app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/brewmark/id6759349623
