In brief
The Drogheria MCD4 is a shop grinder. Seattle Coffee Gear calls it a "bulk grinder designed specifically for commercial settings," and sells it with an oversized chute and a bag clip so you can fill a bag directly.
Whole Latte Love says it is Eureka's "only high volume grinder," able to grind up to 66 lb an hour. It uses 85 mm flat hardened steel burrs and a 750 W motor, according to Whole Latte Love.
It is on this site because people do buy shop grinders for the home. The caveat is that independent reviews of the Drogheria are scarce. Almost everything below is from retailers, who sell the grinder, so treat their praise as claims.
What it does well
- Stepless micrometric adjustment, and one dial turn covers French press to Turkish, per Seattle Coffee Gear
- Whole Latte Love describes a 'Blow Up' air-flow system that clears the chamber
- Bag clip and large chute are made for grinding whole bags, per Seattle Coffee Gear
- Narrow footprint fits tight counters, though a buyer on Seattle Coffee Gear calls it very tall and very heavy
Where it falls short
- Manual dosing only; Seattle Coffee Gear advises a scale to keep shots consistent
- Seattle Coffee Gear's 2018 post says it heats up at Turkish settings; keep batches under 8 oz
- Retailers disagree on burr size, motor power and hopper capacity
- Sold out at Whole Latte Love at the time of checking

What it does well
Bulk grinding is the point. Seattle Coffee Gear says its "large flat burrs excel at bulk grinding for most brew methods." Whole Latte Love says it is at home in "any bustling cafe or roastery." If you grind several bags of beans for customers, the bag clip means grounds fall directly into the bag.
Adjustment is simple. Eureka's stepless micrometric system lets you move between coarse and fine; Seattle Coffee Gear says one full revolution of the dial covers French press to Turkish. Whole Latte Love adds that adjustments act on the bottom burr, so the top burr can come out for cleaning "without affecting the grind setting."
It is easy to run. Whole Latte Love says "basically no training" is necessary, because operation is on and off with an easy dial.
It claims low retention. Whole Latte Love describes the "Blow Up System" as an air-flow mechanism that clears the grinding chamber, making a "zero retention grinder." That is the retailer's description, not a measured result.
It is built for years of service. Seattle Coffee Gear's 2018 launch post calls the motor "big and reliable," and says it "doesn't affect the temperature of the beans for most settings." Note that post describes a 75 mm-burr version; the current listing is the 85 mm one.
Where it falls short
It is not an espresso grinder first. Seattle Coffee Gear says the manual dosing method means "be sure to use other tools like a scale." Whole Latte Love sends espresso buyers elsewhere, saying "for a more espresso-focused grinder, take a look at the Zenith 65E." That fits the finder's rating of 1 for espresso.
It runs hot at the fine end. In 2018 Seattle Coffee Gear said it "does heat up more on the settings needed for Turkish coffee" and recommended grinding under 8 oz at that setting.
It is big. Seattle Coffee Gear gives the shipping weight as 31 lb, and says the narrow footprint fits crowded countertops, though one buyer on its product page calls it "very, very heavy and very tall." ChefSupplies.ca lists a height of 25.4 in.
Specifications vary between sellers. Seattle Coffee Gear's overview says 750 W while its own sheet says 670 W. Hopper capacity runs from 2.2 lb to 1.4 kg to 3 lb across the listings. Check the exact model number.
Finally, stock is patchy. Whole Latte Love showed it as sold out when this page was checked.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy it if you run a shop, a roastery or an office that grinds whole bags, or if you want one big grinder for drip coffee, French press and cold brew in volume.
Skip it for single-dose espresso at home. It has no programmable dosing, it is heavy, and the retailers themselves point espresso buyers to other models.
How it compares
The Eureka Oro Mignon XL is a smaller Eureka for households. The Mahlkönig EK43 is another flat burr grinder aimed at bulk grinding. The Mazzer Super Jolly is a shop-style grinder in the same electric class. The grinder finder puts them on one table.
Owning it
Cleaning is simple: the top burr lifts out, per Whole Latte Love. Our guide to cleaning a burr grinder covers it, and replacing grinder burrs is useful because Seattle Coffee Gear says titanium or Red Speed burr sets are easy upgrades.
The warranty is one year parts and labor.
