How the Grind Index Works
Every coffee grinder uses a different numbering system — clicks, rotations, or arbitrary numbers. BrewMark's universal grind index maps all grinders onto a single 0–100 scale using three calibrated anchor points:
- 0 — Finest setting (Turkish coffee)
- 40 — Medium filter grind (pour over, drip)
- 100 — Coarsest setting (cold brew, French press)
Between these anchors, the tool interpolates linearly to find the exact equivalent setting on any grinder in our database. This means switching grinders — or following a recipe that specifies a different grinder — is as simple as entering a number.
