This recipe sits at grind index 40 on BrewMark’s 0–100 scale. Convert that to the actual number or click count on your grinder — we support 80+ models.

The method

  1. 0:00Add grounds, pour all the water quickly and evenly200g
  2. 0:10Fit the plunger to stop it dripping — do not stir
  3. 2:00Swirl the whole AeroPress gently to break the crust
  4. 2:30Let it settle for another 30 seconds
  5. 3:00Press slowly — stop as soon as you hear air

BrewMark’s notes

Note the dose: 11 g is far less than most AeroPress recipes and the ratio is correspondingly high at 1:18. Hoffmann suggests going up to 12–13 g per 200 g for medium and dark roasts. Stopping the press at the hiss avoids dragging through the bitter tail.
