The same number means different things
Both grinders use a clicks, which makes it tempting to copy a number straight across. Setting 100 clicks sits at grind index 10.8 on the JX-Pro but 14.2 on the X-Ultra — close, but worth checking.

If a recipe quotes a setting for one of these grinders, read across for the equivalent on the other. Rows are spaced evenly by grind size, not by dial number — on a conical burr those are not the same thing.

Dialing in the JX-Pro
External adjustment makes this the easiest hand grinder to actually dial, because you can count clicks without disassembling anything. Its filter range is generous, which is a mixed blessing — small click changes do less than you expect at the coarse end and more than you expect near espresso. Move in larger jumps for French press, single clicks for anything under filter.
Dialing in the X-Ultra
The X series is 1Zpresso's more affordable line, and the X-Ultra is the filter-oriented member of it. Comfortable across pour over and immersion; the espresso end exists but lacks the click density of the J and K series.
