1Zpresso JX-Pro vs Porlex Tall II
Two hand grinders cross-shopped at the same money. The JX-Pro counts 200 clicks; the Tall II counts 18 clicks.
Which to buy
Choose the
JX-Pro if you…
- pull espresso as well as pour over — 1Zpresso rates it for both
- want smaller clicks: 12.5 microns each, 40 a turn
Choose the
Tall II if you…
- want ceramic burrs, which Porlex says won't rust or absorb water or smells
- brew pour over — Porlex suggests 9–11 clicks
- want a grinder made in Porlex's own factory in Kirishima, Kagoshima

The same number means different things
Both grinders use a clicks, which makes it tempting to copy a number straight across. Setting 9 clicks sits at grind index 0 on the JX-Pro but 33.2 on the Tall II — far enough apart to change the cup.
Converting a setting
If a recipe quotes a setting for one of these grinders, read across for the equivalent on the other. Rows are spaced evenly by grind size, not by dial number — on a conical burr those are not the same thing.

The shape of each dial
Where the connectors bunch, that grinder’s dial is compressed and single steps count for more. Comparing the two shapes tells you which gives finer control, and where.

Porlex Tall II
Dialing in the JX-Pro
External adjustment makes this the easiest hand grinder to actually dial, because you can count clicks without disassembling anything. Its filter range is generous, which is a mixed blessing — small click changes do less than you expect at the coarse end and more than you expect near espresso. Move in larger jumps for French press, single clicks for anything under filter.
Dialing in the Tall II
The larger Porlex, same ceramic burr character with enough capacity for a full pour over without refilling. Best treated as a filter and immersion grinder.
