The same number means different things

Dialing in the JX-Pro
External adjustment makes this the easiest hand grinder to actually dial, because you can count clicks without disassembling anything. Its filter range is generous, which is a mixed blessing — small click changes do less than you expect at the coarse end and more than you expect near espresso. Move in larger jumps for French press, single clicks for anything under filter.
Dialing in the Manual Burr Grinder
Very widely sold and very cheap, with the consistency that implies. It will get you through French press and cold brew acceptably; pour over is workable if you accept some muddiness, and espresso is not realistic. If you are choosing a first hand grinder, the price gap to a Timemore C2 buys a lot.
