Choose the
JX-Pro if you…
- pull espresso as well as pour over — 1Zpresso rates it for both
- want smaller clicks: 12.5 microns each, 40 a turn
- grind 30–35 g at a time

Mini II if you…
- travel light — Porlex says it is slim and will fit in an AeroPress
- grind about 20 g at a time, which Porlex puts at about 2 servings
- want ceramic burrs that come off for washing

The same number means different things
Both grinders use a clicks, which makes it tempting to copy a number straight across. Setting 9 clicks sits at grind index 0 on the JX-Pro but 33.2 on the Mini II — far enough apart to change the cup.
Converting a setting
If a recipe quotes a setting for one of these grinders, read across for the equivalent on the other. Rows are spaced evenly by grind size, not by dial number — on a conical burr those are not the same thing.

Porlex Mini II
Dialing in the JX-Pro
External adjustment makes this the easiest hand grinder to actually dial, because you can count clicks without disassembling anything. Its filter range is generous, which is a mixed blessing — small click changes do less than you expect at the coarse end and more than you expect near espresso. Move in larger jumps for French press, single clicks for anything under filter.
Dialing in the Mini II
Ceramic burrs and a body sized to fit inside an AeroPress, which is exactly why people buy it. Filter and immersion are comfortable; the small burr set means grinding a full dose takes real effort.
