JX-Pro if you…

- want 40 clicks a turn, 12.5 microns each

Manual V2 if you…
- brew pour over or French press — Normcore pitches the 38 mm version for those
- want a lighter grinder to carry — 497 g with the crank, with an EVA case in the box
- want a choice of burr — Normcore also sells the V2 with 44 mm conical, 49 mm flat and 48.6 mm Ghost burrs

The same number means different things
Both grinders use a clicks, which makes it tempting to copy a number straight across. Setting 30 clicks sits at grind index 0 on the JX-Pro but 40 on the Manual V2 — far enough apart to change the cup.
Converting a setting
If a recipe quotes a setting for one of these grinders, read across for the equivalent on the other. Rows are spaced evenly by grind size, not by dial number — on a conical burr those are not the same thing.

Dialing in the JX-Pro
External adjustment makes this the easiest hand grinder to actually dial, because you can count clicks without disassembling anything. Its filter range is generous, which is a mixed blessing — small click changes do less than you expect at the coarse end and more than you expect near espresso. Move in larger jumps for French press, single clicks for anything under filter.
Dialing in the Manual V2
A hand grinder with external adjustment at a competitive price, aimed at the same buyer as the 1Zpresso JX. Comfortable across filter with enough resolution to attempt espresso, though that end takes patience.
